Entry #4

"Chapter 4"

20th October 2018

This week was a packed and unfavorable one for me. I had to miss my lesson and also submit an assignment. Our team had to submit a report along with a presentation due on the 20th Oct.

I knew I had to rush to finish and clear up my schedule but could not make it on time which resulted me to miss a lesson and spent time working on my left out areas.

Our group had to fix on the core idea which was our Unit Selling Point(USP) of our business which revolved around fairy tale themes and landscape themes. Although, it did seem the plan was simple, all of us had to decide on a few concept for both themes to work on for the event that we were planning to book on the Nov 17th and 18th. It was really simple to choose any USP however when we researched we felt it was not strong enough to go ahead with that because it was too common or too easy to be copied. Lots of time was spent on getting our fundamental concepts and mindsets all in the same chain of thoughts.

My portion was to work on the market analysis , competitors and positioning portion of the report. During the research stage , I learnt that the competitors were selling their concept in numerous ways and hence we needed a strong USP to survive. With that in thought, we tried to solidify our concept of personalizing terrariums where we wanted to bring out one's nostalgic moments through fairy tales and landscape themes. Together with that we also wanted to make it affordable , so that we could attract more customers.

With all this idea, we completed our report and also prepared for the presentation. However, I felt did I did not present well in the presentation phase although I was the closing speaker who had to end of with a reminding note in the audience mind.. During the Q&A we were questioned on our USP part which was the personalizing factor( customization) not complimenting well with the cost . The quality of our product was another point that we was given feedback to focus on . Thus, I felt we were told not to over promise buyers .Lastly, we were told to lookout for more ways to sustain in the business to ensure that our legacy lived on.

Personally, I felt this week was a rough and draining one. However, I came to learn that those rough roads when looked back has the most story to say. For mine it showed that every team member contributed his/her time equally and did their level best to contribute with quality work for the report and presentation. We all managed to get through it together and work on the areas pointed out for improvement in the business aspect.

With that, the next episode would be an interesting phase as it is R&D ....so stay tuned!!!...Until then Ram signing off:)
