Entry #9

3rd November 2018

We realised a while back that at Cheryl's place, there was nowhere to store all of the terrariums so that they could ALL get enough sunlight and airflow. After a lot of pestering, my parents agreed to let us store the terrariums on the patio and so today, the group came over to my place to make the terrariums we would be using for the White Sands event.

(Funny story: yesterday was my birthday and apparently the group wanted to surprise me, but I caught Shiju standing outside my house and I surprised him instead. So he hid the cake behind a bush and pretended like nothing happened. I died laughing inside but hey they bought me cake so I pretended like I didn't see it either hahaha)

Anyways, after a quick lunch and cake cutting we started the terrarium making with a goal of making 100 units.

It took us a while to get into the flow of it, but we managed to get some kind of a system going, with one person filling gravel, two people filling the soil and adding the plant(s), and three people doing the designs, which took the longest time. It got really robotic, though, and the designs started to feel super repetitive and boring after a while.

I mean... they kinda all look the same???

We only managed to finish around 43 terrariums, plus the figurines hadn't arrived yet, so it all looked really plain and kinda meh. Plus, the clean up took such a long time and it was super messy since all the loose soil and sand wound up flying everywhere because of the wind.

Oh well, we're just starting out so I don't expect us to be professionals yet anyway. But if it took 6 of us + the whole day to finish 43 without figurines, I'm really hoping we can finish the remaining 57 with figurines next week.

We'll see how it goes.

Till the next post!
