Entry #11

19th November 2018

So the white sands event is over, and I guess we didn't do that badly all things considered!

The first day was definitely a disaster in terms of set up and my dad came down personally to chew us out about how ugly it was HAHA. When we got home, though, he was throwing all sorts of things at me from the storeroom and telling me to bring everything down the next day to see what we could use for the set up. He also kept on stressing about lighting because my family came to visit us at night when it was dark and the only light was the horrible and dark corridor light, which wasn't very flattering for our terrariums.

While there wasn't anything I could do about the lighting, I brought some IKEA planks the next day and hot glue gunned some of the small plastic pots (that the plants originally arrived in) to the bottoms of the planks to create some elevation, as you can see in the second picture. I then used the paper doilies to cover them up so that customers wouldn't be able to see the horrible glue job HAHAHA. I also brought a small, foldable wooden IKEA table that we could open up at the side to do the name customisations or on-the-spot touchups.

Business was okay after that, and I was really satisfied. The only thing I wasn't happy with was maybe the table cloth colour because it kinda reminds me of Chinese New Year and it's like, NOvember??? I guess it was just something that was overlooked because we kinda assumed that the table cloth would be black or something. But we should probably get our own tablecloths for future events just in case.

The images for this event on that we would post on Instagram were, as expected, taken by phone and not by camera. They're also really saturated because 2 of them were actually taken at night and a lot of editing had to happen for them to be properly lighted.

BUT they kinda match and look good in a row together so, happy accidents I guess?

Till the next post!
