Moving forward with our business idea of doing and selling terrariums, we had a discussion on Skype this morning on confirming which types of plants we should use for the terrariums. Most of us agreed that we should use low maintenance plants such as air plants or succulents as those would be perceived as easier for the users to maintain and would be a good selling point as well. We decided to do more research on these types of plants and also find out more about the plant nurseries in Singapore which provide these types of plants. Apart from that, as none of us had ever made a terrarium before, we decided to sign up for a terrarium workshop as soon as possible. We believed that through a terrarium workshop, we would learn the proper methods of creating a terrarium.
Up till now, we had never thought of a name for our company. It was at this point that Cleo suggested naming our company "Frond". A frond is a large, divided leaf and it is most commonly referred to as a leaf of a fern. Our group had this view that each one of our team members represented a leaf or a frond of a plant. Individually, each leaf is ordinary. However, when all the leaves come together, a beautiful plant is formed and similarly when all the members in our group come together, a beautiful and strong team is formed. Another reason why we loved the name Frond was that it rhymed with affectionate words like fond or friend and we felt that when people hear the name of our company , they would also have that "close to heart" feeling with us that they would have with their friend.
Much to our surprise, Cleo had already designed a logo for our company and it looked amazing. It was safe to say that today, Frond was born!
