Entry #17
The February Focus
5th February 2019
The past few months have been tiring for the team. We kept going for many events but we have not been making desirable profits. After the consultation last Saturday, it was quite clear that we needed a change of strategy and I would have to focus on new types of events that Frond would go for on February as well.
Workshops
Our team has been constantly going for flea market events and the problem with going for such events is that wages are accumulated due to preparation of the terrariums beforehand and the manning of the booths during the event itself. Apart from that, preparing terrariums beforehand requires a lot of hard work and is very time consuming thus making it very undesirable to keep continuing this process in future. After testing out the DIY terrarium concept in MOX Parade last month, we realised that many were interested in making and designing their own terrariums. We felt that it was time go into doing workshops which would mean that we would not have to do terrarium preparation beforehand and we would just have to teach people on how to do it.
The best way to promote workshops to the public is to use online platforms. I have to research on which platform is best to use to promote our workshop and to reach out to them. Last week, I had also applied for a booth at East Coast Park for a weekend event that was being organised by the Terra Village. Eric from the Terra Village called me and informed me that the event I applied for would be more of an outdoor workshop. He asked if Frond would be interested in conducting a terrarium making workshop during the 2 day event. I consulted with my team and we agreed upon doing it. The event was called Terra Village @ Parkland Green and it was to be held on 9th and 10th February. This would be the first time that Frond would be conducting a terrarium making workshop. I do believe that through this experience, we would be ready to conduct more workshops in future and with much confidence, promote our workshops through online platforms to reach out to a wider audience.
Flea Market Event
While trying to pursue workshops, we still wanted to participate in flea market events to garner sales. The MOX Parade event that we went last month was considered one of the best events that we had participated and there was a high traffic flow at that location. We decided to book for MOX Parade again for February. I also managed to get a discount when I booked for the event. It would be a 3 day event that would be held from 22nd February to 24th February.
Frond is changing strategy and trying out new things this February. I'm hoping everything will work out great this month.
With that, this is Shiju, signing out!
