Entry #3

"3rd Chapter"

13th October 2018

!!!!!!A-TEAM PHOTO!!!!

Today to sum up in total was all about getting HANDS ON AND PHOTO SHOOT!!!!

We were all filled with curious minds and itching hands to get to work and explore our innovative minds in making a terrarium .

When we reached the place, we saw only one person in the store who was occupied with another group who were making their own terrariums.

Upon seeing us , she asked us if we are here for the terrarium making workshop and arranged a table right outside the shop for us to get to work.

She placed gravels, soil, plants such as Peperomia and Fittonia on the table before explaining the steps to be followed.

Step 1 : Fill the bottom layer with gravels.

Step 2: Get a sloping landscape using the soil.

Step 3: Arrange the plants depending on the tallest plant on the lower end of the slope and the shorter plant at the higher end of the slope. We were advised to transfer the plants carefully with the use of tweezers to ensure that the roots from the plants were retained in the transfer process .

Step 4 : Ensure the roots were placed deep into the soil within the terrarium.Subsequently, firming the soil on the surface to prevent the plants from falling off from its place.

The magic happened after we added the Holland Moss and figurines which changed the entire outlook of the terrariums.

Step 5; Placement of Holland Moss into the terrariums.

Although she placed the Holland Moss easily into the terrariums, we(especially me) took a long time to place a small part that i wanted to add in to the terrarium.

Step 6: Choice of Figurines

This stage was important where we had to choose a figurine based on our preference . For me, I felt the bench reminded me of my lucky experience of winning the lottery and wanted to get reminded of that luck one way or another. So what would be a better way then incorporating that into my terrarium.

That concluded our workshop with a mini fun activity of rating our terrariums from the first to the last. Although, I felt I deserved to be first , I was not and NOWHERE CLOSE!!

With that coming to a conclusion, we went for our photo shoots which was really interesting as we all were trying to get a good shot of ourselves and our terrariums.

Moving from there, we decide to travel to IKEA to look around on the possible containers for us to work on for the terrarium concept. We were all drained of energy after walking through the whole IKEA sections of glass, plants and other sections.

However, it was one of the most memorable and fruitful time as we were learning, understanding, knowing ,communicating and brainstorming all in ONE DAY!!

So until the next time.... Stay Tuned!!
