Ram Entry #12
'Chapter 12'
15th December 2018
Today was a group Recce to the Gardener's Day Out at Hort Park to check out the crowd, the ambiance and the potential competitors that we may be facing if we decided to take part in the future events that could be held in the same place.
We reached the place in the morning and noticed that there were succulent and plant sellers in most of the booths. At certain booths we saw coasters and painted pots in which we showed more interest to.
The main reason for our interest was both the coaster and pots seemed like another way to venture or to expand our business.
Personally, I felt that coasters were modern and came across as a vintage concept. We enquired the booth vendor on how the succulents were incorporated to the coaster designs. We were informed that the plants stuck to the coaster using nelsol .The process was to wet nelsol and get the shape . Once shape is achieved, letting it dry would firm up soil and retain the shape. We bought a few packets to experiment them.
As for the next, we saw the pots booths where particular the cats pot caught our eyes. As we had alot of customers who preferred cats figurines we thought that the concept of cat pot with a plant would also equally attract the animal enthusiast. Thus , we enquired the vendor with regards to the price, stocks, variations in designs and bulk purchases. Lastly, we took his contact before leaving the place to discuss on our opinions and decision for the idea of holding a booth in the Gardener's Day event in the future.
In conclusion :
- We decided to expand using terracotta pots which we would hand paint so that it would be unique and we could sell at higher price.
- Look out for the cat pots at other venues and also Shiju and Shun kai were clarifying more details with the booth vendors .
