Entry #2
6th October 2018
Yesterday, we had a Skype session where we discussed more on our idea and brainstormed on our company name. Eventually, we all agreed and decided on the name “Frond” which was suggested by Cleo. I like how the name also sounds like “Friend”, and that people can care for their terrarium like how they care for their friend.
Today, we had our second lesson where we were given information to access our new ntuentrepreneur email account, and blog (Yeah, pardon my past post, I backdated it as I wanted to keep a record of my whole ET9135 journey). We had a second session of idea sharing, and some of the key takeaways were:
- A lot of experiment is required to be done early as it takes time for us to see the effects in the plant
- We will have to be mindful of the freight costs if we were to consider purchasing from overseas as glassware are fragile and heavy. However, if we were to opt for plastic container, it may get scratches easily during shipment.
With these feedback, we will be more careful when sourcing for our suppliers in the later stages.
Our team decided to assign roles to each member so each of us will be clear of the tasks that we will oversee. I am assigned the role of Marketing and Public Relations. Since I am a Business student with a Marketing Specialization, this would be a great opportunity for me to apply some of the skills and knowledge I have gained so far.
After lesson, we headed to Pick a Plant in Choa Chu Kang to look at their huge collection of air plants. I’ve never knew about air plants and was surprised to see so many different kinds of it and was even more shocked upon seeing one of them selling at $356!
Our loots for the day!!
We also looked at the range of succulents they had, and they were all so beautiful. We eventually bought a succulent and an air plant each, so that we could all experience the process of growing the plants and identify difficulties that we will come across. I am really excited to “adopt” my first plant and I hope it will survive for long!
That’s all for today!
Signing Off,
