Cheryl Entry #8

3rd November 2018

We agreed to meet at Cleo's house to mass produce terrariums for our event on November.

Before we met up at her house, we split up once again to get different materials needed. Plants were delivered to my place while the others went to get more soil and glassware.

Looking at all the plants together was strangely therapeutic.

We had such a difficult time choosing these plants out of the limited variety that Pick A Plant had because we wanted to choose the ones that suited the themes we had in mind.

Sadly, they didn't have all the ones that we wanted so we had to rethink our decisions based on the ones they currently had in stock. Because we didn't have enough time to complete everything in one day, we split the orders into two batches.

I'm really looking forward to the next batch of plants!!

Our goal for that day was to complete 58 terrariums which i initially thought would be possible since we were merely replicating the chosen designs from our earlier R&D stage. But there were troubles one after another, such as plants that couldn't stand upright and certain varieties that had to be handled extremely gently because their leaves dropped off very easily. Since we didn't manage to get the exact plants that we used the previous round, some designs looked weird so we had to recreate them which took up more time than expected.

At the end of the day, we only managed to complete 43 terrariums instead of the 58 we had in mind. This means that in the session next week, we will have to complete 57 more to reach our target! I'm looking forward to it but at the same time dreading it. While making it can be fun, the cleanup is a pain.

Also, I was majorly disappointed when I came home to the sight of this. This was actually the first succulent I bought about a month ago from our first visit to Pick A Plant. I realized too late that the position where I left it at home was in direct sunlight and since I watered sparingly, it eventually died from under-watering.

Meanwhile, the other succulents in my house are in need of more sunlight since they have been placed in an area with little light. Since I've brought most of them over to Cleo's place, I can fit the remaining on one table and shifted it near the window. Hopefully they will become healthier!

Since we don't know what types of plants Pick A Plant will ship over the next week, it is going to require us to improvise once more but this time we will be more prepared! Maybe in December when our exams have been completed, we will need to explore different suppliers and find one that gives us a good price and a wider variety.
