Cheryl Entry #7
28th October 2018
We went to visit Hua Hng to check out the types of succulents they offered since Pickaplant previously had limited varieties.
Compared to Pickaplant, Hua Hng had a much larger variety of succulents. However, it is at double the price! Surprisingly, unlike Pickaplant which offers a discount for bulk purchases, Hua Hng doesn't offer the same. It is a huge store which offers us a wide variety of materials such as soil, coloured sand and gravel of different colours and texture. While it seemed like this would be a one-stop destination for us to get everything from one location, the prices for succulents were too steep and we decided to just get materials from here.
We previously tried to use small succulents to decorate our terrarium but they died after only one week. While these tiny plants looked pretty and suited the theme we had in mind, we decided to forego them in making our terrariums until we learnt how to properly handle their roots, which are really fragile.
After visiting Hua Hng and sorting out the plants that we would order for our terrariums, we went back to the east to buy the necessary decoration we needed for our booth. Since Cleo had already come up with a theme in mind for the booth, we went to Daiso and got the materials that suited her theme- flower petals, wooden crates, fairy lights. Our difficulty lay in finding compartmentalized boxes that could fit our beads. Never would I have thought that something so common would be so difficult to buy.
Afterwards, Cleo and I went back to my house to have a photoshoot of our ready-made terrariums, so that we can have images for our social media accounts. With the decoration we got from Daiso, we (mainly Cleo) spent the next two hours taking pictures of the different terrariums and called it a day. Check out Cleo hard at work!
If you're wondering why we squeezed behind the sofa, it's because we go where the sun goes!
After a long long day, there were only a few things left to do before our event:
- Order the plants
- Get the materials- glassware, soil, pebbles
- Make the terrariums
- Check up on our taobao orders
I said 'only a few things' but these few things are probably going to take up whatever spare time we have from now till November :')
Let's hope no plants die this time!
